The problem with Tumblr is that, yes, majority of the time, it's hyperbole and satire. The weird obsession with superiority to all things popular lead non-tumblr users to ignore or miss that. It would be like judging an entire fandom by a capslock com. One can have a PhD and still make posts with reaction gifs and the caption 'I can't with his faaaaaaaace' because sometimes life and fandom aren't serious business.

In this community especially - or maybe because it's just LJ - the general consensus is all "oh if it's from tumblr it HAS to be shit". Tumblr is THE enemy around here. Or so it seems.

I think some of it stems from this idea that Tumblr killed LJ because fandoms have pretty much fled to it en masse, but lbr here it was the effect, not the cause.
