Your secret is silly and kneejerk operatic judgey.

I like people who smoke, maybe because my first lover did. Also, I used to smoke bongs. I don't smoke anymore, not for fifteen years and never tobacco, and my partner has asthma, and we have a baby, and we avoid smoke wherever we can. I still like the sexiness. Problem?

Also, "freedom from" and "freedom to" need to be balanced out, so nothing is absolute. Asthma can be crippling however.
