But "makes a different expression sometimes" and "is different in real life" aren't even noteworthy differences. They're like... bare minimum requirements for being an actor.

Well, yes, they are, but it can still be pretty weird or cool to see. Hell, I've got friends who are impressed by how I can switch to super-formal around parents and teachers to super-crass around my friends in a heartbeat, even though just about everybody does exactly this in, in some form or variation. Sometimes people just enjoy being impressed by the little things, and Tumblr tends to do with this with hyperbole and being over the top. There is a lot of sheer stupidity on Tumblr, but I don't think this particular case is a part of that.
