F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

I hate hate HATE that it’s become acceptable to show people vomiting onscreen. It was unpleasant enough to hear it from offstage, but now they keep showing it to us for some reason. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t watch any new media while eating, no matter the genre, because I don’t know when it’ll show up. And I have never seen an example that was funny enough to outweigh the sheer disgusting.

I don't really see it happen often on tv but I was thinking the same thing earlier when I was watching that episode on the office called "fun run" on netflix

I nearly threw up watching Pitch Perfect. So gross.

I'm better with it than I was a few years back.
I think I might still have a cry if I have to vomit though. I don't care how childish that is. I just hate it and it turns me into a big baby.

THANK YOU for the warning for Pith Perfect, I was about to see it. After Bridesmaids (I couldn't even stay in the room to watch that part but I had to hear it), I'm not watching anything like that again.

You're welcome! I wish someone would have warned me. It's more than one scene, too. I was all "okay. I can watch the rest now, the vom is over." I was so wrong.

I hate that it's played as comedy. I don't know anyone who finds it funny IRL.

Agree so damn hard. I get so antsy when I'm watching shows/movies that I haven't seen before because I just know someone decided a puke-shot was completely necessary for some reason I don't get.

Agree; it's the one thing I can't watch.

Suddenly I'm so glad I pretty much don't do any media anymore other than video games...

I'm with you OP. I don't have a weak stomach, but it seems like a cheap way to shock the audience. It makes me not want to watch the movie again or continue with a tv series.

What I hate is lately I've seen more dislocations and breaks on tv. Not just the sounds, which is cringe worthy enough, but seeing it. I just about gave up on So You Think You Can Dance after they showed a dancer dislocating her knee. WTF! And they showed it 3 times, once in slo-motion. It was horrible.

God, yes! BBC sitcoms have become appalling for this - it's the punchline of the entire episode for so many of them that I pretty much avoid them now.
