F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

I love reading that soulbonding shit but I think someone came out a while back saying the author was just as crazy as the rest and was fabricating a lot of the stuff. I'm convinced they're all as batshit as each other tbh, well done FFVII for bringing the crazy

well, they already don't seem like the sanest person in their account, so I can't say I'm too surprised. do you remember any details maybe? /nosey

Well, all I remember is from this post on journalfen where someone asked what was up with the whole deal:

http://www.journalfen.net/community/fwgreatesthits/32668.html

And then one poster came out of the woodwork to defend the supposed cult crazies. To be honest the defender comes off as pretty flaky too, so I'm inclined ot believe everyone remotely involved is lacking in one department or the other.

all these commenters seem kind of weird but it's a few of them speaking up so they might be right. the whole things is still weird as hell though

Yeah, I can independently confirm that the owner of the Hojo Warning Site is a completely obsessed fucking crazy person. The whole shit with outing a previous contributor because of an anonymous troll COMPLETELY MAKING UP SHIT and a bitter ex on Something Awful just sealed it for me.

Would not poke with a 200-foot pole.

Oh god I was around for the original soulbonding madness. I'm ashamed to say I even participated in some of it (I viewed it as more role-playing but the fact remains I had an account at a soulbond forum). That shit was fully of crazy.

It is seriously embarrassing that I got into it, but there were a few forums and there were sections for only the "soulbonds" to talk. Basically where you could only post in-character but of course it wasn't called that. There were a lot of angsty debates about what really makes up a person and how the term "personality" was offensive because we were more than that! *facepalm*

I lasted a few months before it got to be too obviously full of crazy and I started to get really uncomfortable and backed out.

"personality" is offensive? Oh my serious god hahaha. Congrats on having the self-awareness to bail <3

Yeah, you're kind of the reason I wait for any soulbond to be out for a year straight before I have anything to do with them. It's full of trolls. Hell, half the people you were creeped out by were probably just trolling, too.

Still, trolls are a lot better than sexual predators. So, uh, thanks for ...just wasting a lot of your own time, and nothing worse.

To be fair I was pretty young (this was awhile ago). And sadly I really don't think most of the small group I interacted with were trolls. For awhile I was keeping an eye on the group just feeling them out and they went on to some weird shit. I think the main person, kind of informal leader of the group, eventually decided they were trans and possibly part lion? Idk it was messed up.

Well, maybe you also had shit luck. There are are also totally messed up people here and there, and you really don't know who they are until you've been burned.

I mean, people say there's a "soulbonding community" but there's no real rules or support or anything. Just these nebulous semi-political connections between different social circles in different places, and some of those circles have people who are crazy, abusive, or just plain untrustworthy.

Not that anyone will ever tell you that, of course, because Oh Noes What Will The Mainstream Think Of All Of Us Then. (Answer: they'll STILL think we're all crazy, that's never going to change.)

oh. my. god. I knew some of those people! I remember when that went down!

And by saying I knew them it's more knew of them. Still, yeah I'd say don't trust anyone in that whole drama. They were all in the same bag o' crazy.
