F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

So even though most of my fandom friends have moved past Harry Potter, I'm still into it. I'm fine that they've moved on, but if I as much mention the books or the fandom, because they'll get quiet or awkward. Why does this happen? Are you not supposed to mention closed fandoms/canons?

They might find it awkward because they know you're still into it, so it feels like something you should still have in common but don't.

Or maybe they feel they've grown out of that fandom and are embarrassed that they ever shipped x/y or raved over certain tropes?

They might feel like you're majorly embarrassing them by squeeing over a kids' book when you're probably like 30+? Just a thought

That could be it, except some of them were already well over 30+ when they got into the books. So doubtful.

I feel sorry for you. C.S. Lewis would tell you that you're clearly too young to realize books can be enjoyed by anyone of any age.
