one brightside to this crazy awfully cold why-is-it-still-winter? weather we're having: the lilac trees are still in bloom for May 25th, when any other year they're already wilting

Our lilacs are just finally fully open, but all this rain and cold seems to be draining them of their vibrancy. Curse you unseasonably cold northern weather!

where i live they're almost gone :(

They're all gone where I am, and the bush with pretty smelling white flowers outside my house (I don't know what it's called) has had a lot of its flowers blown off by the strong winds we had all day. Blah. At least the honeysuckle is just starting to bloom.

I guess when I freeze to death (because my apartment building turned off the heat) I'll be buried under a still-in-bloom one.
