F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

fandom that made you hate something?

for me it's Sherlock (easy target I know I know)
I used to like the show, but now I'm too put of by the fandom to be associated with it

I have a ridiculous hatred for John Sheppard and a large part of that is directly due to the SGA fandom.

I am so so so so glad I never got into SGA fandom, then. (I like Sheppard.)

The fandom was awesome and full of amazing intelligent works, not gonna lie. But the obsessive love the fandom as a whole had for Sheppard really got old fast and grated on me.

asami sato which sucks because bryke went out of their way to make her a subvert of the typical bitchy other woman trope

maybe if i ignore the fandom in season 2 i'll like her again

the superwholock fandom (and other permutations of it) are starting to make me hate the shows.

speaking of crossovers, I rly hate this "big four" one (rise of the tangled brave dragons??) which is annoying since I like 3 of those films well enough, and wanted to watch rise of the guardians too, but now jack frosts excistence just irritates me

(Anonymous) 2013-05-25 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
those big four things annoy me because they keep putting hiccup in hufflepuff and rapunzel in ravenclaw

Hiccup in Hufflepuff I could see. Rapunzel, however, is so Griffindor.

all the nonstop jack frost shit on tumblr has completely turned me off ever even giving that movie a try

and the only thing that could make your example worse would be onceler

Same.

Loki apologists are rapidly making me hate any media he's in.
Snotrag fans made me hate Dragon Age.

Actually, when I think of it, most fandoms in general make me hate fandom in general.

/shrug?

Loki apologists are really making me wish he dies in Thor 2. Possibly because he's a backstabbing little worm. I don't want him redeemed in any way, shape, or form.

(Yeah, this is really getting to me.)

Teen Wolf. Fuck, I didn't even know Stiles and Derek weren't the main characters until months after I'd first heard about it.

MLP: FiM.

It's in an animation style that I'm not entirely fond of, but I gave it a try anyway, and thought the music was fun and the plots were okay kids fare if a bit less action/adventure oriented than I'd expected based on the first few episodes and the show's original incarnation.

And then I encountered the parts of the teen/adult fanbase who weren't part of the original fandom, and it was like the worst parts of Homestuck, Hetalia, Harry Potter, and first-person-shooter fandoms combined into one rabid package.

I think that part of the fimdom might be losing interest after Paulight Mcsparkle got Wings.

regina stans. doesn't help that she's getting a half-assed redemption in the show.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-25 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Regina fans are the reason I'll never get into OUAT fandom. They drive me crazy.

Supernatural
The fandom makes it sound like an harem anime rather than a televised Evil Dead/Blues Brothers hybrid.
As awesome as that metaphor was, I still have no intention of watching it.

I stayed clear of SPN for the same reason. Although, not being into slash probably sealed the deal.

Re: fandom that made you hate something?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-26 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Your metaphor is exactly why I love it now that I started watching it! Even wondering about the batfuckery people made it out to be is why I started...

However I'm making a choice to ignore the fandom outside of fanwork.

The Transformers fandom made me hate so many TF generations. Mostly because their fandoms are prone to androcentrism and internalized misogyny.

And don't get me started on all the little assholes on tumblr who think their RP group makes them gods on Earth.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-26 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Agreeing with the Transformers and MLP:FiM anons . . . a good majority of both fandoms fucking give me the creeps. And so many bronies are misogynistic slime, too.

I have to say the Castle fandom is the reason I just watch the show and squee privately on my journal.

Those fans are the worst. Anything that isn't Caskett is ignored and they're super rude on Twitter when they tweet at the actors, writers, and crew. And their insistence that Caskett MUST have a baby in order to truly be happy when Castle already has a daughter is just problematic.

The FMA manga stans made me unable to read it.

I was a biggish fan of the original anime, though it wasn't my favorite anime or anything, and I tried to get into the manga, but the snobbery and self-righteousness from the manga-only fans put me off so much that I can't read the manga without being reminded of them.

Now I have no idea if it's good or not. For all I know, it may in fact be superior to the original anime. But now I'll never know for sure because I just can't get through a chapter without getting pissed off.
