F!S Anon Meme (the ??th)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with recaptchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

(Today's post is below.)

I think I missed that thread? (I'm glad for that, really glad) but I've had it with people claiming that he *had* to be white because he looked white and to hell with any other considerations, including how he identified as, or how Mexican culture deals with skin color.

Says the really annoyed light-skinned Mexican who is tired as hell of people trying to tell her that she has no idea how her country works.

Be glad you missed it, it was pretty awful.

It was also full of 'he's not really mexican because his parents' etc, which is completely irrelevant because his parents' heritage does exactly fuck-all to negate his experience as a Mexican immigrant working in the US and his own identity as a Mexican (which has nothing to do with skin colour), but clearly that concept went way over some people's heads.

AYRT

Argh.

What I hate about that is that it does exactly what they claim that the others are doing: trying to force a different culture into USA-standarts of what is race.

Being Mexican has nothing to do with your parents. If you were born here, and raised here, you're Mexican for the rest of the mexicans. Hell, you can be born somewhere else, but if you were raised here? Mexican (Just ask Sergio Aragones. Born in Spain, moved to Mexico, considers himself Mexican and yes, he is). If being born from spanish parents somehow erased Mexican identity, we wouldn't have an Independence! The father of our country, Miguel Hidalgo, was born of Spanish parents, and no one claims he's not mexican.

Sigh. I just... argh. Seriously, if they want to hate BC as Khan or defend BC as Khan, I just don't care anymore. I just wish they left Mr. Montalban and my culture alone.
