TMBG is awesome like that. I remember one time I was going through a bad break-up, almost 20 years ago now, and of all things, the song that made me almost cry? "Shoehorn With Teeth". Seriously. Because... he wants a shoehorn, the kind with teeth, 'cause he knows there's no such thing. He asks a girl if they can both sit in a chair, but he doesn't get nervous - she's not really there.

I also think "Older" is one of the most terrifying songs I've ever heard. I guess these examples are sort of the polar opposite of what you're talking about in this secret, but the fact TMBG can capture concepts that are so elementary and ever-present, and yet often too complicated for me to ever actually find words for, and they CAN find words and metaphors to summarize them - that's one reason I love them so much.
