"I don't like Clockwork Orange because I'm not 17"

I am reasonably certain a 17-year-old is not going to get the social commentary/satire out of Clockwork Orange that....exists. In the book anyway. If you think only 17-year-olds like Clockwork Orange because of "the old ultra-violence" the point has sailed completely over your head and now resides a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away.

Did I misread your comment?

You really think 17-year-olds don't like things because the social commentary (that they know about obviously) makes them look smart for liking it?

17-year-olds are dumb, but not that dumb. It's the age where you START to care about looking smart.

Yeah, you did. I don't really care enough to get into a protracted debate about it though.

You sure know some dim-witted 17-year-olds. The social commentary is exactly why edgy teens love both Fight Club and A Clockwork Orange. At least, the ones I hung out with in high school.

I thought it was a good film when I was 17 and still do. *shrug*
