while this doesn't quite ring true to me (no reason in particular, probably just getting old and cynical) it did prompt me to search for fanfic about my family member's band (none! kind of relieved!).
It makes me wonder if people every write RPF about people they know and post it online. It sounds like something people would do, tbh.
