no, but sometimes i think people forget that ooc can be a matter of preference and people will disagree and it doesn't make them brainless fangirls. when people are hostile like that in their criticisms, of course authors get defensive. i've managed civil discussions disagreeing with an author over their fic-it's about how you word it!

Some authors get defensive over the slightest thing, even if it's truly not meant to be hostile. I've given up on offering criticism unless I know the author simply because I never have anything but the best intentions (I only ever offered crit if I loved the story, just to keep from flaming accidentally) and having them shout at me over the internet for it was not pleasant.

Sure, it wasn't every author I reviewed, there are some sensible people out there, but it was enough that I got sick of it very quickly.
