(Anonymous) 2013-05-28 02:04 am (UTC)(link)Basically, the more dominate [or more 'alpha'] a person is, the stronger their instincts to protect the less dominate usually are as well. There are a few who abuse it, and the story that addresses that does go out of it's way to make sure that they're viewed as the bad guys, and not the norm.
tl;dr: This set up can actually be very, very good when it's done well...it's just that in fandom it's not normally done well.
