I am not thin, and I see a lot of people harping on about how its important not to be shamed into changing how you look, but its also important to note that sometimes this ties into health & your own self esteem and there is NOTHING wrong with also wanting to change how you look.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-30 03:08 am (UTC)(link)In fact, the idea that there could be any long lasting negative costs/effects on an individual of trying to lose weight - mentally, physically, socially, spiritually, is something that is regularly denied. So making the choice to lose weight to be more conventionally pretty and accepted, is skewed by this imbalance in dialogue.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-30 05:10 am (UTC)(link)if you do it right (and by that i mean not falling for diet bullshit or overexercising and instead actually making an overall lifestyle change), losing weight is not a terrible or stressful thing and shouldn't have any real negative costs or effects.
