Hey OP, my partner and I are casual players, but if you're looking for some folks who won't be all judgey at you for being confused, feel free to PM me and I can give you our BattleTags.

Even after playing for several years, every time there's a new patch out, I'm essentially relearning my class/spec. Which is why I haven't switched my arcane mage over to frost, even though frost is pretty much godmode right now. Arcane's DPS was top for like...one patch, but I'm used to it and FUCK THE HATERS >8|

I've been playing since 2005 and this is one of the things that annoy me about WoW. One patch one DPS spec is great, next thing you know it gets nerfed into the ground and to be comparable (if you're in a raiding guild) you have to switch specs and relearn things. I'm lucky in that my main is a healer (priest), but even in past expansions I had to switch from holy to disc in order to do heroic modes because disc was so overpowered.

Sorry off topic and I went off on a tangent :P Just had to get that off my chest.

It's all cool. I know the pain xD I only recently realized the pitiful state of my DPS as an arcane mage because I started using Recount for running dungeons and I am almost always bottom DPS. Unless there's another arcane mage sucking worse than I am, but I think most have swapped for frost at this point...

But it'd have to be Horde. Mostly because that's all I play and I ain't got time for leveling an Alliance toon. Having a hard enough time just trying to get a second toon to 90 :T

im literally in the same boat! i really enjoy arcane's playstyle and im way too lazy to learn how to play a new class for one patch!
