I easily pretend to have watched all aired episodes of Supernatural and Sherlock simply because of how much they show up on my Tumblr dashboard, so you're definitely not alone.

A friend of mine wanted me to read the Mortal Instruments books. I could not get through the first one. I just ended up reading the wiki articles so I could pretend that I read them.

I used to do that for years with Harry Potter - but only so I knew wtf my then fandom friend (through another fandom) was on about when she asked me to proof read her HP fics.

But I finally read the books properly last year so...I don't count anymore.

I used to do that a lot, actually; back when Farsape DVDs were crazy expensive and it was pre-Netflix, I read the wikis while catching the occasional rerun on sci-fi channel.

I like reading the GoT wiki too. I think the back story for the characters and world GRRM created is interesting. I do watch the show tho. Haven't read the books, however (it's on my forever long to read list).

It's like... the book was SO BORING. I kept falling asleep trying to read it. But I can't stop reading about the elaborate backstories. My friends think of me as a kind of expert on the Tareygan dynasty because I 'remember all the obscure details' but it's really because I just love reading their sections on the wiki. The world building is so fantastically in-depth but the language is so dry to me. And I don't really enjoy keeping up with TV shows.

You have to give the book a few chapters to start getting better. Book 3 is AMAZING.

The last two haven't been as good, but it's worth it for the third book alone.

Half the time it's the only way I can keep up with comic book discussions with some of my friends. I know in-depth background information without ever touching a comic book myself!

Bless the wiki editors!

Y'know, I've only really watched Transformers Animated (and Beast Wars, way back when), but I love reading the Wiki, even when it brings me to series I've never read or seen because it is freaking hi-larious.

I would almost always rather read something than watch it.

I have to watch random episodes of TV shows in work, and always just get distracted by looking up the episodes on wikis and then reading all I can find. I know all about Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos because of this.
