Today I filled out my first form claiming myself as a Ms

(Anonymous) 2013-05-31 02:38 am (UTC)(link)

Haha, aww. ;^; I've been doing that since I was 18.

I've been resisting! But this year I've decided I should give it up as gracefully as I can

*GLARES AT FORM*

I've always done that. "Miss" makes me feel too young, usually too young to be eligible for filling out whatever form it is.

But I feel too young and stupid to be a Ms D:

(25 years though, so should suck it up...I held out as long as I could!)

Oh geez. This is adorable, but you're kind of missing the whole point of "Ms" existing. The connotations have changed now, but originally it was a sort of political statement--a "you can't define me by my marital status" thing. That's why Ms. Magazine exists. It wasn't supposed to be about age.

Don't worry, Ms. People will still card you.

I've always liked being a Ms.! It makes me feel cool and grown-up. Maybe I am just biased because my mom is also a Ms. though. :P

I feel that way too :)
starphotographs: I like him. He kind of looks and acts like one of my characters. (I did not know this when I started liking him!) (Victor (...>:|))

I've always preferred Ms., because Miss sounds less "young" and more "you are in trouble for something." D: Like... "Wait just a minute there, missy!" It makes me bristle.

I've been checking "Ms." since I started college (at least, on any form that gives me the option). "Miss" made me feel like a little girl.

Huh. And here I was thinking that Ms. is all awesome and feminism-y.

I've always used 'Ms' for all women.

To me, Ms always just meant an unmarried woman who was over the age of 18 - not a Miss (little kid) and not a Mrs.

I'm married and I use Ms because I think it's stupid to have a different form for being married or not.

I always use Ms. and I will continue to use it if/when I get married. Unless I manage to complete my PhD by then, in which case I'll use Dr., for similar reasoning: it's bullshit that women are titled by marital status, when men are not.
