I am really, really curious. Didn't personally know the person, but knew a ton of their mutual friends.

I thought it was weird when it first happened that NOBODY was giving details. They were a fairly prominent name in fandom, and in all honesty, if I had died, I would want people to KNOW the details of what happened. Smelled to me like someone was faking a death and just didn't want the details to get out.

I hope for the sake of my flist that it's not a fake, because I knew a ton of them got super upset about it. :\ but it... seems off somehow.

was this ever posted to fake_lj_deaths or anything? is there any way to actually GET any of this evidence that it was a fake? :\ i think people deserve to know, in all honesty.

Faking a death hurts people -- and when you hurt people, you make things their business, no?

I was also surprised at the vagueness of it, but I assumed that they were too hurt to talk about it.

I wish it wasn't a fake as well, but I think, if the comments in this post (most exclusively the ones left by people who were 'in on it', I guess you could say) are any indication, it was. Sadly.

I can understand not wanting to talk about it when it happened. But... it's been months and months, and the wounds are beginning to heal for everyone involved--and still, NOBODY is offering any details at all.

I'm pretty convinced now. :\ and i feel terrible for believing it, but nobody is TRYING to convince anyone that this guy was a real person, they're all just saying they don't want to talk about it. sorry, i know it hurt but... if it hurts you that much that people think he's a fake, try and offer some details.

I agree with your first statement, but especially now that we know he was a fake, it would be...nice, I suppose, to have some details, especially because I was very hurt when he died. I mean, I'd like to think that the person behind him meant well, had her reasons, was a nice person, but so many people fell in love with what she created, and now she's not going to help us at all.

Mostly I think the people on the other side (who know the full story) are just angry that others don't understand their reasons. I'd really like to know the reasons, so I can understand completely what happened (and I'm a nice person, so I'm not going to get angry or anything), but I keep getting told that it's none of my business.

Having read the above comments... yeah, it's definitely a fake. oh wow, some of the people "in on this" were on my flist, and now I feel... betrayed. :\ lied to. because they went on for months about how sad they were and RIP RIYU and it turns out they were probably all just playing their part. wow, thanks, i actually felt bad for you all for MONTHS.

I really think the full story needs to come out. people need to know, and they need to decide for themselves if the end justifies the means. in all honesty, i'm pretty forgiving... if i hear the truth. :\

Well, as far as "in on it" is concerned, it wasn't a conspiracy or anything of that sort. From what I know, it was all on Riyu's end and whether what they did or not is right is for you decide, even if it's only based on the flimsy details that've 'escaped' for lack of a better word.

In December I was told he died. In June I recieved a phone call from a friend saying "get to the chat. omfg." where the "he's not really dead!" bombshell was dropped. I haven't really bothered to comment on any of it, since it's not my place.

Essentially, I'm just trying to say don't blame your whole flist. A lot of us were under the wrong impression for months, just as you were. No 'parts were played'.

It's not a savory thing to do, by any means, but I agree that the whole story should come out before we all jump to conclusions. :X I didn't care to know it for a long time, but by now I'd just like a little closure to this debacle.

We didn't betray anyone. I hurt for months, for real. I never faked my pain. I was fooled like the rest of you. I just happened to be lucky enough to be close to him, and get the truth out.

I'd like to thank Shelley for her previous comment. Before you all jump to conclusions, please wait until you know the full story. I'm not against people wanting to know. But it pisses me off to deal with anonymous people who only seem to want to fuel the wank.

I understand where you're coming from. What mostly upsets me here is the bunch of anonymous commenters who only seem to be there for the wank. lolz fake death... sorry, no, that's not funny. It wasn't funny, for none of us, and it never will. I told a friend I was going to get him to come clean, as soon as possible.

In the end you'll judge for yourself. I'm not asking anyone to forgive him. But please, remember that there is a person behind what happened, and no matter what he did, no matter the reasons, he's got a heart too, with feelings. It's probably harder for him than you could possibly imagine, and he IS aware of all the shit going on, and the pain he's caused, and yes, he is awfully ashamed and upset. Which really isn't making it easy for anyone.

Yes, I did. Obviously it isn't MY place to tell, but it doesn't seem to be a concept you can grasp. You know nothing of what I went through. I really wouldn't call it a happy little bubble.

Mentally messed up... as in crazy? Mental illnesses don't make you insane. Many, many things can make you do certain things. It can be something as simple as anxiety, but most people are too ignorant to know that certain things can make people do certain other things. Physical illnesses are taken seriously because you can actually see them, but it doesn't make everything else nonexistant.

Would you feel better, if that were true? Or would you feel like a fucking idiot for bashing someone who's hurting as much as you are, if not more. Great job on the assumptions.

It is a fake. The girl who was behind it is watching, I have no doubt about that. It was never posted to that community. They need to come clean on their own. The comments above speak for themselves as far as proof goes.

Well, I don't know what to think. On one hand, the entire situation just felt weird, and now this all pops up. On the other hand, I know a ton of people who were involved and all very hurt.

And no sides are willing to provide any real details. :\ So I'm gonna go with my gut feeling on this and assume it was a fake. Which... really makes me lose a lot of faith in people. Wow. Depressing.

It is depressing. People who do this sort of thing are disgusting. I don't know why anyone would defend someone like that.
