I've said it before and I'll say it again: ANNE WAS THE BEST BRONTE SISTER. CHARLOTTE AND EMILY ARE OVER-RATED.

Personally, I think that each of them produced exactly one great book: Wuthering Heights by Emily (obviously), Villette by Charlotte, and Agnes Grey by Anne. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is fascinating but a little too full of Victorian melodrama for my tastes; Jane Eyre is less innovative and suffers from the same problem (and from an assholish male romantic lead); and the less said about The Professor and Shirley, the better.
