This may be dumb, but as a little girl, Chewbacca was my best friend. I had a shit mother who would put on Star Wars for me so she wouldn't have to actually interact with me, and for whatever reason, little girl me latched on to Chewie. Maybe because he was strong, maybe because he looked like he would be cuddly if he wasn't ripping your arms out of their sockets, whatever. I had a Chewbacca action figure that went with me everywhere. I still love him and I'm 32.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Peter Mayhew at a convention and telling him how much Chewbacca meant to me as a little girl, while my own little girl had no idea why mommy was crying and talking to this random guy. But he was super sweet about it, and I'll never forget it.

It isn't dumb at all.

It did make me tear up a bit, though. >.>

I'm glad you got to meet him and wasn't disappointed with the experience!

That's adorable and very sweet. :) I don't have a similar situation to yours, but I really loved Star Wars as a kid and Princess Leia was my hero. If I met Carrie Fisher I'm pretty sure I'll cry my eyes out.

Awww, this comment
Chewbacca is like a giant dog with humanoid intelligence, I don't see what's not to like about that

That is so sweet. That is definitely not dumb. That was your way of coping and coping mechanisms are not dumb.

I'm so glad you got to meet him and tell him what Chewie meant to you. Believe me, it's always great to hear how something you created/portrayed affected someone positively. He was probably very glad to hear your story. I know I am.
