Amanda Palmer conflicts me. I like her music, but she's such an awful human being :/

Regarding the secret: Whoever Neil Gaiman chooses to fuck/marry, doesn't affect his quality as a writer, though. It's a stupid reason to lose respect for someone. Just stop following his blogs and you won't be bothered by it.

This person upthread made the point better than I ever could: http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/816166.html?thread=658734630#cmt658734630

IDK. Maybe it's because I don't give a fuck about the lives of celebrities, but I don't think it's such a big deal.

I don't agree.

I think the point here is that the respect you have for a person, and the opinion you have of the person's written work, are not necessarily linked to each other. Often they're linked, but they don't have to be. For instance, Louis-Ferdinand Celine was a manifestly disgusting human being - he was an outspoken, rabid anti-semite and nazi sympathizer. But you can still have a high opinion of Journey To The End Of The Night and think it's a good book.

In the same way (although much less pronounced) whoever Neil Gaiman chooses to fuck / marry, that is going to affect how much you respect him as a human being. But there's no reason it should affect your consideration of his written work.
