(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)Besides slurs, are their any other words people see as inherently misogynist? Are there any words that people see as inherently male/female (in English, I suppose, or other languages without gendered of words)?
In my case, for some reason I see words with 'sh' sounds as "female" and words with "tch" sounds as male (unless paired with a "soft sound".)

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)Man, in this case it isn't even the meaning, because I don't think anyone would ever have said the definition had anything to do with women. It's... I don't even know what this is.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-02 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)Funny though, I'd forgotten I even knew that until you said it here. I think it's random trivia that almost nobody knows and I wouldn't blame them for using it, since it would be really impractical to expect people to look up the origin of every word or idiom before using it.

*Misogyny implies hatred or dislike, and the issue is often a lot more complex than that

thank goodness it seems to have died out, sometimes I mention it to people somewhat younger than myself or around the same age and they have usually never heard it.
