when I was growing up I always heard older people referring to sunshowers as "the devil beating his wife" and that's pretty horrifying... not sure if that counts though haha

thank goodness it seems to have died out, sometimes I mention it to people somewhat younger than myself or around the same age and they have usually never heard it.

I've heard that term! I feel like a bit of a doofus, though, because I just don't...quite...get it. Idioms as such don't always make sense, but I can't put two and two together with that one.
