I first heard about Eurovision maybe 1-2 years before Lordi won? Waaay back when I was on Usenet, I got to know several Brits / UK'ers. So when they migrated to LJ we friended each other, and when they started to post about Eurovision, with links to the YouTubes? Ohhhhhh yes. I'm sure that's how it probably spread to the US-- just fandom friends sharing other fandoms and random bits of daily life with each other...
