I have a feeling that cheating in my family is the reason why I narrow in on how fictional couples communicate. If there's dishonesty going on I'm typically reserved about the couple even they're one I'd normally like; might give some leeway for the "but I can't tell you or you'd be in danger!" trope but that has its limits too. And cheating itself, of course, is the big NOPE.
