I get it. I have this problem with a lot of shows (Grimm, Sherlock, this one) and it gets a little grating after a while. :/

theory 1: He gets villains in the tin and gives them a kicking. Psychological kicking, that is. I think most of Lestrade's work involves domestics or drug dealers knifing each other, and that he is really, really good at getting witnesses to talk. He's also good at playing politics - tries not to tell his supervisors anything they don't want to hear. He's got a high clearance rate and doesn't go over budget.
