it's nice that they don't like or put up with bigotry, but it's frustrating that they act like they're the sole arbiters of What is Right and What is Wrong, and it doesn't overwrite the fact that it's still a shitty, condescending, and ultimately kind of stressful place to be because of how much petty hostility and passive aggression translates into the general mode of the entire community, even about topics that have nothing to do with social issues

it's nice that you have your insular little hole in the wall of fandom space, but that doesn't really mean it's objectively a nice place that everyone is going to like
