Is that a prop cigarette or does he really smoke? I thought singers weren't supposed to smoke?

...seriously?

I mean, assuming you are serious, there are plenty of singers who smoke, including very famous ones.

Many singers do. It can alter their voice but many still do. I think Adele is or used to be a smoker. See also: Serge Gainsbourg, Alain Bashung, Tom Waits, Paul McCartney and John Lennon, Bob Dylan, David Bowie...

Because Jack White clearly has a crystal voice. Your naivety is arousing to me.

Hahah, I remember the first time I did "Seven Nation Army" at karaoke. I figured I could pull it off because I was still hoarse from a nasty month-long flu bug. XD

I used to date a guy who drank milk as a "warm up" before playing with his garage band. Apparently it emulates the voice you get with a cold.

Singer here, and this is correct! Milk (or any dairy product) causes mucus production. That alters your voice and makes you sound hoarse, which is why most singers will avoid anything with dairy in it for at least a few hours before they sing.

I used to be a DJ and I actively avoided drinking milk right before I went on for that reason.

You probably shouldn't, but lots of singers do. Though it's funny that the Japanese singer HYDE smokes a lot, but says not to have sex before a live because it's bad for your voice. XD
