Re: so when did this place die?

When LJ started to muck up with its system. F!S moved here and an arkload of people said, "Feck, I can't be bothered to move along with it."

Coupled with the fact that tumblr came into the picture. Now here's the thing about tumblr. Many people were posting their deepest darkest fandom secrets here, thinking that only they thought a certain way for certain things. Tumblr changed all that. If you have an opinion on a show, book, movie, band, etc, there's a group for you on tumblr. So, those people who were shy about discussing their deepest, darkest opinions weren't shy any more because they found like minded people. So, there went another arkload of people.

I, on the other hand, think F!S only began to really live when it moved to DW. On lj, it was loaded with trolling, wank, asshole anons, lazy aimless comments, and there were too many people and too many secrets to have any good discussions. Almost all secrets either spawned flamewars if they were controversial or just caused a list of "omg I love X too!" if they weren't.

It was enjoyable enough, but it was in its chrysalis form back then. Well, actually there was a period of a few months on LJ last spring where there were only ever 30-40 secrets per post, which was great. But then LJ changed its comment-thread format and it all went to crap.
