I totally agree with you, Anon. Nothing matches Mary Shannon and Marshall Mann.

Though I still hate the series finale, and not just because it ended the series.

Mostly I try to shut out the entire last season. So freaking OOC, they let Mary McCormack have way too much input.

I like a couple of those shows, but not nearly as much as I liked In Plain Sight. I still miss it too, OP.

ITA ... I loved Mary - she was everything I couldn't be openly but thought 100% of the time of people around me.

I also miss the truest friendship of her and Marshal. The absolute best m/f friendship of all time.

So many times in recent years, shows will try for a character with the 'badass jerk' type, and it doesn't really work; it either comes off too flat and unbelievable or too unlikeably nasty.

Mary was bitchy and badass and human. She wasn't perfect and she knew that; so did the people around her, but they weren't perfect either. People were capable of being cranky and compassionate, unreasonable and understanding. Nothing was tidy or cute, but nothing was horrifically fucked-up just for the heck of it either.

At least we know it's possible.

And every time I saw Sarah Shahi in Fairly Legal, I'd think 'Fuck you, whoever cancelled Life.' To have to go from that amazingness to the dreck of BL should have made someone a criminal.

Do you watch Person of Interest? She has a great role in the second season. (She's also been on Chicago Fire this year.)

I always have to mentally apologize to the actress, though, because I can never help remembering her primarily as the very first ghost-of-the-week on Supernatural.

Except they didn't. They cancelled it because people stopped watching because the show turned to shit. And it's stupid to include Graceland here since it's had all of one episode so far and it had much better ratings than the last season of IPS.

Secret reflects my own opinion, not the ratings.

And yes, I know one show isn't expressly cancelled just to make room for another. But it feels like the quality of the network is going downhill.

I liked In Plain Sight, but stopped watching it after its first season and while I think the writing on Necessary Roughness could be better I love pretty much all the characters. Don't really watch the others so can't comment on them.

I didn't know it was cancelled, I thought it was just the end of the series. I thought they did a decent wrap-up, though, giving people things to go do with their lives in the last couple episodes.

For me, cancelled is the same as ending in terms of 'I as a viewer don't get more episodes, DAMMIT'.

But yes, I did appreciate that they brought things to an organic and hopeful conclusion. (I may or may not have gotten a little sniffly at 'Don't say farewell'.) (I'm also apparently the only one in the fandom who liked the finale, so.)
