I got a review once from an obvious shipper asking what would have happened had the characters not been rescued as soon as they had been, with the obvious implication that the reviewer thought shippy things would happen.

However, one of the protags was a strictly human guy who'd been beaten nearly to death and needed some pretty urgent medical attention.

So... I wrote that alternate ending. And posted it.

It was a beautiful funeral.

I don't know what fandom you wrote for, but this sounds awesome and I want to read it.

It was a Firefly fic, and it's on FFN under the title "Cerberus." Enjoy. :)

:D I find this way of trolling brilliant. And it's relatively harmless.

Hahah, I got a review... well, more than once, on a short fic for basically an end-of-the-world challenge. My fic ended with the implication that rather than die a lingering, painful death, the characters were about to take their own lives.

Someone apparently thought this fic was so amazing that they started leaving reviews not only on that fic, but on every other fic I wrote afterwards (and some of those I'd written before), going "This is not a review for [current fic], this is a review for [other fic], which was really amazing but you should have written a real ending for it! Please continue it! It really deserves to be finished!"

I kept entertaining ideas of publishing a chapter two that consisted of a lengthy description of the characters' bodies floating lifelessly in the rising floodwaters... but never actually had the guts to do it. So I LOVE YOU for this.

Background is of a man-made space satellite

Text: Whenever I get comments on my fanfic asking for more (of a one-shot) and wondering if it takes place in an AU setting when there is nothing in the story to indicate it does, I am tempted to write another chapter that shows the story is set in outer space after the zombie apocalypse. (The fandom I write for is medieval fantasy.)

s!b: "Just be glad someone took the time to write a comment!"

(Anonymous) 2013-06-09 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't find that terribly unreasonable, since a lot of one-shots i used to read back on LJ often had some kind of minor AU premise or seemed likely to have originally been written for a prompt.

If it keeps happening, I'm more liable to think that maybe there is something in your story that seems out of place in just the right way to make them wonder.

Goddammit, now I want to write a zombie post-apocalyptic Zelda fic.
