Where do you all get your cyberpunk from?

I'm in the mood for some cyberpunk / post cyberpunk / techie-futuristic stuff.

Games, comics, books, movies, series, etc, if it's set in a future setting heavy on technological coolness. Bonus points if its a female protag.

Melissa Scott's written a bunch of cyberpunk with female protagonists.

Ghost in the Shell?

Ghost in the Shell, obviously. The first film, then Innocence, and the show, Stand Alone Complex.

It is a good list! I personally really like Ergo Proxy and SEL, so I hope you'll like them. However, I prefer the Mardock Scramble manga over the movies (last time I checked, only 2 out of 3 are translated) but it depends on how graphic you can tolerate.

Snow Crash. Very 90's, but still good.

Agreed. I had so much fun reading that book. I really ought to give it a reread sometime soon.

I CANNOT BELIEVE NOBODY HAS RECCED WILLIAM GIBSON.

Try "Neuromancer" and "Mona Lisa Overdrive".

Also, for films, try Blade Runner.

I luff *all* his stuff. I think Mona Lisa Overdrive is my favorite, though.

I kind of assumed that if you know what cyberpunk is, you know who William Gibson is.

But it's a good recommendation.
