Hey, case, I have this idea for a recurring GC thread...

I have no idea if it's appropriate, but I though I'd just ask here:

Would it be okay if I started up a daily thread in the GC - lets tentatively call it "Fiction Love" - where people could reply to the thread with a comment with the title of a canon work (book/movie/show/game/comic/manga/whatever) they like in the subject line with a comment about the work, and other people could post their replies to that person's comment or their random thoughts and opinions and squee about that work under that comment?

Kind of like a daily mini-anon meme (except it doesn't have to be anon), but specifically just for discussing or recommending or asking if anyone else is familiar with fictional works the members like.

And of course there could be multiple subjects per day. So it would be like:

General Comments:
>subject line: Fiction Love
>>subject line: Harry Potter
comment: OotP is my favorite book of the series, it's so (blah blah blah)
>>>subject line: re: Harry Potter
comment: I totally agree! (blah blah)
>>>subject line: re: Harry Potter

comment: Can I just say I still wish x,y and z in season 7 had been done this
different way instead, blah blah blah

And so on and so on. I thought it could be a bit like the shit stream or cuteanimalpics, but with more general comm participation.

Is this an okay thing to set up, or would it be inappropriate for this comm or too much work to mod in addition to the rest of the GC or something?

i don't understand this. you want a comment where people can talk about things in general chat? that's just general chat isnt it?

Shit stream, and cuteanimalics threads are made by FS members, and Case really doesn't have anything to do with it. If you really want something like that you should do it yourself.

I don't see why you can't do this, but I also don't see any difference between this and the GC. Why can't somebody just post "Harry Potter I love it" to the GC without a special thread for it?

i think anon just wants that sort of topic grouped together, since there are also real life topics in the general thread

If they're going to group EVERY fandom love topic under the GC together, then it should be its own separate thread beneath the official GC one, because that thing is going to get gigantic and it's actually easier to do it separately.
