They sent them an invitation?! Why would anyone do that?!

Because they were worried their show would be cancelled. And then were insulted when the fandoms accepted the inventation.

There was no invitation. A couple of people from these people went "oh hey, we can include them in the mashup!" Hannibal fans replied snarkily. People blew it up and started to think it was this massive controversy, when it ... really wasn't.

Those of us who love Hannibal and some of those shows would like people to acknowledge the fact that sometimes fandoms overlap, but that might be too complex a concept for tumblr.

no, there was literally an invitation going around tumblr that said "The Hannibal Fandom cordially invites Sherlokians, Whovians, Team Freewill etc to join us for dinner on Thursdays" and it had thousands of notes.

Well if we take it in the context of Hannibal Lecter, maybe they just wanted to eat them so they stop annoying them?

Yeah, it showed up on my dash a couple of times reblogged by the people who absolutely detest Superwholock, so I took it to mean "show up so we can eat you" (??)
