Notice that I never said it wasn't bad, I had major problems with the acting and the direction of the plot. It simply isn't as bad as reviews would indicate. This secret is more about my reaction to the film, having read reviews before going to see it to inform my opinion I was led to expect much worse.

ok,so you went in expecting hte worst and were pleasantly surprised, bu tmaybe the people who saw it earlier were expecting Will!Smith!awesome and they were bummed out by how not awesome it was.

That is my problem with it too, tbh. But I would have been fine with it if Jaden's role was played by another actor, or even written differently. I can handle not seeng Will Smith kick ass for once if the subversion was actually done well. It's still not the worst movie ever, so I do judge those critics who jump on the hate wagon a little.

Which people? You agree that it was bad, and reviewers have rated it with varying degrees of poor quality. Surely not every single critic on the planet believes it was worse than you thought it was; several prominent ones responded with a resounding "meh".

But if by 'people' you literally mean 'the people who are saying it was worse than I personally thought it was' then, no kidding, you could say that about every movie you've ever watched in your entire lifetime (though you'd still be wrong in using 'objectively' as a stand in for 'in my personal opinion' - I've read reviews by critics who thought movies I thought were 'objectively' excellent were garbage; that doesn't make them wrong and me right. And if by 'objectively' you mean 'amongst the general consensus regarding film quality' you're still wrong, because you've read the general consensus, and you disagree with it. If anything, that makes the movie 'objectively' worse than you think it is).

Alright, I should've nipped this in the bud earlier but here goes. The "people" I was referring to are the movie's hatedom, I specified that first thing in the secret, and I only consider some critics part of the this vocal hatedom which I will continue to argue is wrong about how bad the movie is. But this has nothing to do with what every critic thinks, and I can't speak for every critic either. So you may very well be right that not every critic is wrong, I have no argument about that. I haven't read every review.

Is that the bit you want to hitch your wagon to? Let me tell you, I can see this turning into a very tiring and pedantic argument that basically amounts to, "On this technical point, this person is wrong" that isn't even particularly relevant to anything. Well okay, I am wrong about that, so be it. I will retract and proceed under "in my opinion" instead, so I can go back to discussing the movie and its hatedom. You haven't seen it, so I will understand if you do not choose to join me.

Since I spent the bulk of my first comment disagreeing with that word choice, yes, obviously that what was what I had a problem with. You just didn't bother to justify it until now.

...Because you, uh, can't. If something is objective, you must be able to prove it. And "prove that this movie is not objectively worse than critics say it is" is an impossible task.

"In my opinion" is totally accurate, though! Cheers.
