I hate the act of ironically wearing band/movie/comic shirts because it always sets me up for disappointment. I spot someone who is wearing a band/movie/comic shirt that I like, I go and strike up a conversation only to learn that the wearer has no idea who is on his/her shirt or even worse, wore it because they hate the band/movie/comic and thought it would be funny if she/he wore it.

What a silly thing to do. Outside of their close friends, no one will get the joke and everyone will just assume they're a fan.

That's why they wear it. For the hip, inside joke only they and their friends get. Now you understand why I hate this.
