I haven't read Half Blood Prince or anything after it so can someone explain everyone's distaste of the Dark Mark? I thought it was just a mark for the villains of Voldies gang, a gang tattoo pretty much. Why do people keep bringing up racism?

It was their symbol, yes, and they would shoot it up into the sky whenever they killed muggles and muggleborns or anyone who supported them. They weren't just a gang who wanted to terrorize anyone who opposed them... they were trying to wipe out and oppress people based on their blood status, which is an obvious parallel to racism.

The tattoo was worn by the characters who supported killing large groups of people based on their lineage/blood status... Basically a metaphor for racism or ethnic cleansing.

The Dark Mark and its meanings were first established in the Goblet of Fire.

I read those books years ago when they first came out so no, I don't remember every single detail. As for their attitudes, all they seemed like was Voldemorts henchmen. I don't remember any of this purging people keep talking about.

I only half watched one of the movies and I got and remembered what it signified. Yeah - poor reading comprehensive and/or shitty memory for you, my friend. My head is equally filled with a vast variety of things, but if I read a whole freaking book, I'm going to remember major themes.
