Just wondering because I've never been a smoker, but recently got into the habit because my best friend got me a flavored eCigarette (to be fair, he worked at a tobacco store and I wanted to buy one out of curiosity and then he told me he'd get me one when he could get a good discount), and I actually really like the taste. I'm thinking I may start buying more in the future.

My first smoking of anything was when I was like 24 and my friends and I were smoking pot for Thanksgiving. It wasn't all it was cracked up to be (weak weed and I was coughing so hard because it was a cheap tinfoil bong so it was not smooth one bit).

Don't smoke.

(When I was 17. Stopped when I was I was 22).

I was 16 or 17. In high school one day I ended up eating lunch with a group of girls older than me that I didn't know much about. They went out smoking after and I went with them. They offered me a puff so that I would be disgusted by the taste and never try it again.

I don't smoke but I still think about it sometimes (I'm 21 now) and thinking the taste wasn't so bad, kind of like a stronger version of dark chocolate or coffee. A smoker once told me that it's why people start smoking and that it never really gets away (the feeling that it tasted good).

In middle school, a friend told me she had bought a packet of cigarettes and smoked one, just to try it. She hated it but didn't want all that money to go to waste (about 4,50€ a packet then, now it's closer to 6-7), so she smoked the rest and became unable to stop at 14.

Never, and never intend to.

(Is it really a given that everyone's at least tried at one point or another? That surprises me.)

Don't smoke. Either a) you'll die, b) you'll have really annoying and gross minor health problems or c) you'll have to go through the often really tedious and unpleasant ordeal of quitting.

I know it's rude but...really. Just don't smoke.

When I was 14. I'm 36 now and trying to quit.

eCigarettes are great for a lot of reasons but since you're not a smoker and like the flavored eCigarettes, I recommend you buy the ones without nicotine so you can avoid getting addicted. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances on the planet. If the brand you have doesn't sell nicotine free cartridges, switch to a brand that has them in the flavor(s) you want.

Unless you count second hand smoke, then from the day I was born probably. Everyone but my mom were chainsmokers until I was in my late teens when they all decided to quit.

Never. I can't stand the smell of tobacco.

I was 11 when I first smoked a cigarette. I didn't cough or gag or anything but I also didn't pick up the habit.

Never have, never will. My reasoning: Too fucking expensive.

I've always thought those stupid anti-smoking/drinking/drugs classes they made us take in school would have worked better if you just showed us a big list of all the stuff we could by if we didn't spend that money on cigarets, and shit. As far as I recall price was never mentioned in any of those classes even once I learned that from my parent's complaining about it, and it's always been one of the main reasons I stayed away from all of it.

I don't really smoke cigs but the first time I smoked weed was I was 17 in some guy's bathroom at a house party.

18, clove cigarettes when other members of my household were participating in a gripe session about my ex. Despite said ex being a 1-3 pack a day (depending on stress) smoker, I had never been tempted until after I broke up with him, at which point I just sorta went "oh give me one."

Which, it's certainly not the best thing, but I'm not going to worry about it so much when it takes me most of a year, on average, to go through a pack of cigarettes. *shrug*

I also want to agree with the above person that mentioned eCigs without nicotine. A friend of mine was visiting and picked one up for dealing with some nose issues (he really needs to see a doctor but in the interim, anything to deal with the smell) - the one he picked up had something like 100 types of flavor cartridges, most of those without nicotine. So if you just want the taste/smell, I'd consider going for that just to avoid getting hooked on the nicotine.

I first smoked pot when I was probably 17, and I first smoked tobacco probably when I was 18 or 19.

I...good luck. If you don't care about what your health is when you're 50+, then there really isn't any reason not to I suppose. I have many smokers in my family. and they have a terrible time dealing with the medical issues caused by smoking/some died. I never, ever want to get winded from walking one foot. ;/

Never smoked a cigarette. Tried pot for the first time last summer and a few times this year until one time I started having this bizarre panic attack and forgetting everything and having muscle spasms and generally having a bad time from it, that was the oly time I'd really felt anything at all so all in all C-, would not repeat.

Not too bummed about it because it's expensive and difficult/dangerous to acquire anyway.

18 or 19, I think. Taking a drag on a friend's cigarette when we went clubbing.

Pot, when I was 18. Tried it a few more times, then gave it up. Too much trouble to get, not really worth it.

I was 17 and drunk. Which have been the only times I've smoked tobacco at all. I strongly dislike the smell of tobacco. Sometimes I've been tempted to start to soothe my stress, but it's really not worth it, and I'd recommend you to use e-cigs without the nicotine. Seriously.

Weed, I smoked it for the first time when I was 18. It was such a bizarre experience. I was at a cute "alternative" party on a warehouse, they put on Ask by The Smiths, and then this couple of bears comes dancing to me and hand me a joint. "If it's not love!" they sang and danced "THEN IT'S THE BOMB THAT WILL BRING US TOGETHER!". And I was like "Ok, but what kind of weed is this?", and they went like "All natural! We grow it in our balcony!", so I shrugged, assumed it was safe, and smoked happily.

(I don't do weed often, but it's nice once in a while. I've been considering medicinal marijuana to deal with my anxiety attacks and chronic pain in the ankle, but it's still penalized to grow it here :C)

When I was eight. Pinched a fag off my mam. Haven't looked back since.
