I sort of hate when people do this too, for a slightly different reason. I like sad and tragic storylines as much as the next guy- but you know what ruins them? Having someone (literally, or just a voice in the back of your head) going "Okay, the really sad part is coming up. Are you ready for the sadness? Because seriously, grab some tissues!!!" the whole time. It's sort of the same as watching a series that was overhyped. It's fine, but you're already expecting it to be awesome so it falls flat. With Madoka especially, I'm so glad that even though I went into that show months after all my friends, I didn't know to expect TRAGEDYYYYY- so it really packed a punch. It wouldn't have been the same, and I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I knew "something was up", especially since the show doesn't start out that way at all.
