I think there are legitimate reasons to dislike genderqueer!Arya (because a lot of people hate the implication that just because she's not a 'typical' girl she must HATE being a girl and secretly want to be a boy or something, when Arya in the books constantly corrects people who call her a boy with "I'm a girl!" and seems to have no issue whatsoever with being a girl, she just wishes she was better at being all the things that Westerosi society expects girls to be). But Dany is canonically bi and Margaery being lesbian is actually a really popular fan theory?

THIS. I hate the whole idea that if someone isn't a stereotypical representation of their gender, they must have some sort of gender identity issues, because that's sexist as hell. It's entirely possible to be a masculine girl or a feminine guy and still identify as the gender that matches your sex.

Presentation =/= gender identity. The only thing that DOES equal gender identity is how the person actually identifies.

the way i approach a gq reading of arya is that shes uncomfortable with being forced into "feminine" activities partly because of internal dissonance with binarist femininity. of course other characters feel this too and im absolutely not saying than women who aren't typically feminine must not be cis, or that you can't be femme and trans* either but aryas pov chapters just gave off a vibe to me that made me go "hm" in a way that other ~masculine female povs (asha, brienne, etc) didn't. so it became a pet headcanon of mine which youre free to not indulge in ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ

I am seriously anti-GQ Arya. Liking boy things and dressing up as a boy to protect yourself does not make you a boy. Nevermind that in 1-4 canon, Arya is basically a preteen. BECAUSE she's a preteen, she's in that "I'm a tomboy" phase.

I see Cersei being GQ more than I see Arya, c'mon.

What's wrong with the word "phase"? Lots of young girls hate femininity at one point but thankfully grow out of it. Sadly this can't be said for most young boys.
