I love what the characters on SVU do. They gave me hope that there might really be people out there as dedicated to helping others as they are. I got sick of Stabler's holier than thou attitude over the years and I still love and miss him despite it. And Olivia is just badass <3

Dude, Elliot is The Hulk (and we are talking Bixby Hulk, not Modern Hulk). I'm not even certain Elliot can handle spilling his coffee without going on a rage-fueled rampage. He is the second worst cop I'd ever want to see investigating anything. And Olivia is one of those reality-bending Mary Sues from the Silver Age.

This really made me giggle! I've hardly ever watched SVU, but the times when It's Hitting Too Close To Home and one or both of the main duo goes berserk - that is my favorite part.

I imagine days in the squadroom sometimes go like this:

Munch: That was a call from the three-two they've got a ten fifty-four in progress.
Cragen: Again? Liv, get down there and take Elliot his pants. Tell him to get another purple stretchy pair and he's not to buy hotdogs if he can't deal with getting mustard on his shirt.
Olivia: *sparkles slightly and rewrites the world so she and Elliot don't get fired, and that she has a new hairdo and a boyfriend who will turn out to be part of a dramatic incident next week where she can look beautifully sad*

Munch: And this was all the lines I have for the next four episodes.

Finn: It's okay I got a "black man has a hard time with homosexuality and drugs" two episode special coming up near the end of the season, so I don't need no storyline this week anyway.

SVU is awesome like that. I didn't like Stabler but I hate Amarro even more. Stabler was about going after rapists and abusers because he thought it was the right thing to do. Amarro is about making himself look good. Olivia is the best because she's all about helping the victims and doing what she can so there are less victims in the future.

That's one of the reasons I like the show. I know some of the endings or plots are convoluted or repetitive, but at the core of the show, it's about good cops who want to protect good people from the bad people. Cops, firefighters, nurses, doctors, etc. are all wonderful examples of everyday heroes. They're great people to look up to. :)

I'm just confused about the juxtaposition of these two duos. I just don't understand why you have correlated the two sets and imagine them to be in competition with each other.

In my state we have SIUs (special investigation units) in each county that do basically the same thing.
