I am sure people would like to see you return to the fandom :) Is there any reason you can't?

no they wouldn't

for the most part, fandom really doesn't care about individual members. especially if a member drops out and then the fandom gets big. more members means more people to keep track of and frankly, unless the BNF was a stellar writer, ...nah people won't really care.

But they also won't really care about them coming back. If they still write decent fic, they won't be like "OMG you betrayed us."

Untrue in my case. I still miss 'stellar' writers who dropped out of my fandom, still re-read their work if they've left it up, and would be overjoyed if they came back.

I think it's true that many people can come and go without causing a ripple, but good writers have a long shelf-life, (even if the fandom does not) just as any good author does.
In any case, if the OP wants to return to her fandom just to enjoy it now it's grown, I don't see anything stopping her.

Untrue in my case as well. I know people who will forever be heartbroken because certain popular artists lost interest and therefore stopped contributing with fanarts and comics.

There are a few names that get brought up ever so often and my fandom isn't exactly small.

That's my guess too. I've seen a lot more Ace Attorney on my tumblr dash since trailers for 5 got released, so it seems lots of other people are coming out of the woodwork as well.

Yes, it was AA. I did a lot of short writings, nothing that ever went big. I mostly did joke and theories and meta--a few of my posts were quite popular, and once or twice I was asked (jokingly, I assume) if I worked for Capcom or secretly ran the fandom.

But then I stopped posting AA stuff for a long time.

(And yes, I do remember Hammah and Earl Zach.)

Also, I think I'd be happy to see more people back in the fandom. I'm still in there despite the fact it lost a lot of steam after the Ace Prosecutor. (Anyone else other than me remember Hanna or porn star Phoenix?)

I was a BNF in a medium-sized fandom for quite some time, but I eventually stopped participating so much.

Now the fandom is alive and kicking, more so than I've ever seen it, and I want back in.
