Dean Winchester. He's really gross half the time, but I relate so much to his personal issues and his attempts to mask them with sex/alcohol/humor/etc.

I'm also really attracted to him, which disturbs me somewhat considering how much I relate to him.

Same. In my case I don't want to admit it because I know his negative traits have made a lot of bad things happen and people berate him for that.

I think it would be an incredibly arrogant thing for me to say I identify with Dean Winchester, because he has virtues that I wouldn't want to pretend to myself that I have, if that makes sense. I think it would be dishonest to say that I identify with him, but there's definitely a part of me that wants to identify with him.

Oh, that makes sense. It's a feeling I know well. (Although it was Samwise Gamgee for me; I was with a friend on a long and seemingly impossible journey and refused to give up even when others had dropped away, but it was less out of pure selfless love and more out of sheer bullheadedness, and I do not have Sam's resilience or faith.)

And I would say 'I'm sure you have your own virtues that you're not aware of' but that would probably sound trite and hollow so instead I'm just going to say that Dean himself doesn't always recognise the good he's done and the good in himself.
