I don't find it funny either and I think I do have a sense of humor.

The majority of "conversations" on Tumblr is stupid because:

a) it's fucking impossible to follow (endlessly clicking on MORE NOTES)
b) when you finally get to some comments, you realize the average mental age of the participants is often about 12

(Anonymous) 2013-06-16 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much all of this. Tumblr has been disappointing me more and more lately with the excess of crap exactly like this secret.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Not everyone wants to be serious 24/7. Sometimes it's fun to go onto tumblr and make silly childish comments (that are normally an inside joke).

It's lighthearted fun. instead of getting frustrated over not being able to laugh at X jokes, maybe browse around a little to find tumblrs that do reblog/post things you like or find funny?

But no need to insult the people who are participating.

[personal profile] seventh_seal 2013-06-17 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
If by browse around you mean scroll for hours, yeah, sure sounds like a great way to spend time.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearly, people should only be allowed to post things that you like so that your time is never wasted.

[personal profile] seventh_seal 2013-06-17 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see the tumblr afficionados are beginning to bite ;) my problem is that tumblr doesn't provide me with a better way to sort through what people post so I can read what I like

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
If you're clicking on MORE NOTES to follow a conversation on tumblr, I have to assume you don't know how to use tumblr.

Who reads a conversation by going through the notes instead of just...reading the post, where the conversation is shown through blockquotes?

As for b), why not try finding more mature fandoms. Or maybe you're the problem.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, no, that's just when people put their remarks into the post itself. But lets face it, most people put their comments in the tags, which means you do need to go to more notes and read through the tags. It's fucking irritating. And people on tumblr whine when people use the post itself to write something half the time instead of putting it in tags. Tumblr is useless for conversation.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Tags are more side notes for the person's followers and not for people clicking through conversations to read the tags.

Generally you read reblogged conversations, which depending on the size of the post could have multiple conversations going on.

Sounds an awful like you're determiend

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
- to be frustrated by the medium and making it difficult for your self. If someone's conversations/blogs are frustrating you go follow someone else.

Baffled why it's such a challenge for you to just read the reblogs. you don't need to click through notes to read everyone's reply ever and certainly not the tags.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Sorry, is there an easier way of finding the reblogs with comments that isn't going through the notes?

[personal profile] seventh_seal 2013-06-17 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe you're the problem.

Oh, burn.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you know how to use tumblr tbh.

Coversations work like this:
dinosaursrgr8: dasfsfasfasf
_pizza: afdsfadfafasd
__dinosaursrgr8: no, afasdfadsfsfas
___pizza: you're wrong afkjaskfjas;lkfj;s
____agonyaunt: can't we all just get along?

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
nobody's going to make it easy for you to join in on the convo or whatever, nobody cares, tumblr is all about spontaneous hive mind interactions, much like you'd do at an event or party of some kind where you know no one an everyone are talking over each other and where you have groups and alliances forming in a split second; you snooze you loose. Going through somebody's notes and trying to force a conversation is the equivalent of seriously anti-social IRL behavior

Re: uh

[personal profile] seventh_seal 2013-06-17 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)

Yes, you keep telling yourself that spending hours glued to the blue screen with scrolling white windows is equivalent to being at Gatsby's party

Re: uh

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
What the hell is this even. Don't try to talk to anyone because it's antisocial, just care about yourself like everybody else because no one is going to gaf about you?

That's not a world I want to live in, not even online. Also I wonder what the fuck kind of weird parties you go to.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
b) when you finally get to some comments, you realize the average mental age of the participants is often about 12

This is probably because the actual age of the participants is about 14. At least I assume, by the number of people who refer to 30 year old actors "so old, but hot!!!11omgbbq"
