Look up what Savin Yeatman-Eiffel did, confronted with a situation like yours. Hell, get the Oban Star-Racers artbook out from the library and read his own words - and those of the friends he pulled into the effort - about it. Took ten years, sure, but he met his wife, won several awards, and helped launch a good friend's dream career in the process!

...and he still really can't draw all that terrifically.
