bro

you can be mad at her parents for being dumb shitheads and still be sad about her death. be mad at her parents all you want - seriously, be mad at them - but a young girl still died and that's still kind of sad no matter how shitty her parents were

come on bro

(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's a broNY. What do you expect.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought they started with chemo and then moved to alternative treatments. I dunno I only barely followed the story. Either way chemo is risky at times and depending on how sick she was before treatment the doctors may not have thought it a viable plan. Like I said though I didn't really follow the story so I don't know whether her parents refused treatment or it was potentially nixed by her physician

Yeah; I have a really good friend who had cancer, and the chemo nearly killed her. When she was afraid her cancer was coming back, she straight up said she wasn't doing it again because it was so bad.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-17 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah that's the thing chemo is an effective tool but it's not a panacea and I've known doctors that have flat out told patients that they would not recommend chemo in specific cases, especially terminal cases. If she was already terminal and far enough along chemo would have been just prolonging the inevitable and prolonging it in likely excruciating pain. So yeah, dunno enough about the story to judge the parents, but if the OP was true I think I would have heard about it on 4chan, god knows they bitched enough about people donating to that charity instead of "more deserving causes" for people that weren't dying.

Yeah, my FIL's cancer came back and he's refused the chemo, choosing to die in his own way instead. It's hard on the rest of us, but you can't really fault the guy.
sabotabby: (doom doom doom)

[personal profile] sabotabby 2013-06-18 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed, especially with terminal cancer. I watched my step-dad go through chemo and made up my mind that I was not going to go through that if it was a matter of extending my life by a couple years. Most doctors, particularly oncologists, apparently make the same decision when diagnosed with cancer.

idgi, you're not sad about a child's death because her parents were dumbfucks which was something beyond her control? what moon logic is this, where am I

edit: I have no idea about the details of the story in the secret and am unsure if OP is presenting all the facts

This is why Bronies suck, they tend to lack critical thinking skills.

Meh too heavy handed, and I just don't see this secret getting any meaningful bites here, now if it was on something like the bronyconfessions tumblr then yeah that would get some traction.

So yeah 7/10 at best I'll knock it up a point if you take your show on the road OP

yep it's now 8:20 PM PST and not a bit of wank came from this secret. I know people love to break out the popcorn around here in anticipation of wank that doesn't even appear 99% of the time, but this was a particularly uneventful topic. Remember when you troll a lot of your impact comes from location location location, if you pose as a extreme conservative parody your not going to see many legitimate bites if your posting to freerepublic.com.

Unless this isn't an attempt at trolling, in which the conversation above this one cover the response pretty concisely, so either way win win.

[Picture is just black text with the image of a picture showing the head of Kiki in pony form, with pink flowers around her, in a geometric and sort of minimalistic design.]

I might be heartless, but I'm not sad about her death.

Yes, it's objectively sad that a young girl succumbed to cancer, but no tears were shed here.

Instead, I just wonder that maybe if her parents had given her chemotherapy instead of scamming bronies for "alternative medicine" then maybe this would all be a little less sad.

See: Kiki Havivy, Kiki's Treatment Fund.

Dunno context for this, but I always reserve my ire for the gobshites peddling the alternative medecines to desperate parents.

There was a case here lately where there was a huge fundraiser to get a kid over to the US for a last chance experimental treatment. Some investigation revealed that the experimental clinic was a snake-oil scam. Who wants to be the one to have to break that to parents clutching at anything that even looks like it might be a straw?

The people behind that kind of thing are despicable.

(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Alternative medicine in general just pisses me off because 99.9% is utter bullshit and yet people buy into it anyway and then stuff like this happens.

Newsflash: if there really were some magical holistic way to cure cancer, people wouldn't still be dying of cancer.

Nuh uh! Big pharma don't want to cure cancer because they get rich off cancer treatments! Only brave souls defy their sinister control and try to find the real -- oh god I can't even finish.

Dude seriously you're judging her parents for being desperate enough to try alternative medicine to save their six-year-old daughter? And because you're judging her parents, you're not sad that a little kid died?
