I stopped watching because I felt that it was the Sam show. Who gets all the big myth storylines? Sam. I was so pissed off when s8 shafted Dean's relationships with other people (in this case Benny) again just so we could get another case of OMFG SAM IS SO SPECIAL.

OH CHRIST I'M SO BUTTHURT ABOUT BENNY IT'S UNBELIEVABLE.

I'm really picky about the sidecharacters that I actually like, and they always end up dead, so I shouldn't have really expected anything better. Except that Benny was put on the bus because WAAAH SAM.

I stopped watching after it became abundantly clear that Dean wouldn't have crapall to do in the finale except worry about Sam and Cas. I think the final nail in the coffin for me was the showrunner dodging the question when specifically asked what Dean would be doing and responding with answers about Sam. Or maybe it was when he decided to start claiming that Sam and Dean were ~doing the trials together~ when Sam had done all of it and Dean hadn't done anything at all. It was rubbing salt in the wounds.

Which honestly wouldn't have been so bad if only they had done a good job with this incredibly Sam-centric storyline. They didn't. It was so boring. It's not because Sam is boring either or that Sam can't uphold such a major storyline, it was because they had incredibly crappy writers, some of whom haven't even seen all of the previous canon, and they decided to ignore some incredibly important parts of past canon. Back doors into Hell through Purgatory? It's that easy to rescue a soul from Hell? Bobby was in Hell? Bobby was a Righteous Man?? None of this made any sense!

S8 started well but ended so incredibly badly. Which was a fucking shame but it means I've got an extra hour to kill each week since I'm not watching SPN anymore. And they won't be able to tempt me back with a Dean-centric storyline at the start of the season in S9 either. Not since pretty much every Dean-centric storyline since S4 was dropped without fanfare halfway through the season. The S4 Dean storyline wound up being dropped too, they just waited until S5 to drop it. It's just not worth getting your hopes up.

I missed the Bobby in Hell storyline, but are you kidding me? Bobby a 'Righteous Man'? Oh FFS, so anyone can fit that bill. Way to go show, lessening Dean's worth once again.
