Re: Rebranding Feminism
(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 12:52 am (UTC)(link)they haven't. that's ridiculous. you're ridiculous.
to go into a little more detail, getting rid of the name feminism is only going to mean abandoning at least a part of what that name means. i really can't get around this fact: getting rid of it means giving in to the people who don't believe that women have unique problems in modern society and that sexism is over. it means abandoning a whole structure which i think has and continues to be productive and positive in the world, all in reaction to a temporary and relatively unimportant problem - a few people on the internet.
the term 'feminism' wasn't abandoned in response to feminists who were much more radical in much more meaningful ways than the internet SJWs in the 1960s, 1970s, 80s. why should we abandon it now?
Re: Rebranding Feminism
(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 12:56 am (UTC)(link)That should clearly be "and who believe that sexism is over" because that's what they believe. My bad.
