I think it's important to realize that tumblr isn't very representative outside of itself. It's entire SJ culture there is very insular, and seems mostly grounded in popular opinion, wikipedia links, and the opinion of any given BNF or internet personality who people tend to look up to.

They aren't really claiming anything. They're just overzealous young people puzzling their way through things they don't completely understand, who are also engaging with it to fit in, be noticed, and feel validated.

Feminism is certainly egalitarian, but the focus on women is also still too crucial to give up. I don't think it needs to be replaced.
